Art. LA. Fair.

Otero Plassart Exhibition

As promised, I’ve continued L.A. Arts month with one of its renowned events. The Art Los Angeles Contemporary will display the works of artists from all over the world. It will take place from January 28-31, 2010. In their own words, “The fair provides a sophisticated yet accessible environment for art collectors, curators, and patrons of the arts alike to enjoy.” There are over fifty chosen exhibitors, thirty of them being from Los Angeles. This will be the first Art Los Angeles Contemporary (previous Art Los Angeles was from 2006 to 2009) and will be held at the Pacific Design Center. The Founder and CEO of Cohen Design Centers and MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) trustee Charles S. Cohen gave his insight on the relationship of design and art: “Design and art are natural partners-for both creators and appreciators. We’re delighted that the Pacific Design Center is the nexus that unties the two disciplines, and gives a home to Art Los Angeles Contemporary for what we believe will be years to come.”

The Art Los Angeles Contemporary was created by the Fair Grounds Associates (FGA),start up by the director of photo MIAMI fairs Tim Fleming. Fleming directed the previous Art Los Angeles that has gained “notoriety on the international art fair circuit”-according to one press release. Tim Fleming spoke of the city in which he has gathered some of the most appreciative and creative art enthusiasts:

Los Angeles has long been an important cultural hub of some of the country’s most innovative contemporary artists and institutions. Art Los Angeles Contemporary brings these inherent cultural qualities of our city together, making Los Angeles the perfect destination for a progressive international contemporary art fair.”
