Bravo: For Inspired Dining at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Although most locals know that the Museum of Fine Arts, has a fine dining restaurant, Bravo still flys under the radar of local diners. As you would expect , the art work in the space is stunning -featuring rotating pieces from the museum’s modern and contemporary collections. The tables here are generously spaced and there is an abundance of cozy persimmon banquettes and walls of gauzy curtains that all work together to make Bravo an elegant setting- perfect for special occasions.
Chef Jaqueline Kelly has created a menu that is deceptively simple; featuring eclectic, seasonal cuisine. The food is divine, the wine list is interesting – and all is well-priced . After a meal of sea scallops crudo ($12)with blood orange and an entree of seared guinea hen breast and leg with capers and olives ($23), you will feel virtuous. Comfort food cravings? The mushroom risotto ($22) with wild mushrooms and truffle oil will warm you on a cold winter evening. The whole roasted branzino or sea bass ($27) is artfully presented- the fish is scored with slices of lemon tucked into the slits – and served with with a side of feather -light lobster beignets. For dessert, you can’t go wrong with either the ginger creme brulee or the seasonal bread pudding with vanilla gelato.
Dinner guests receive free parking at the MFA’s parking garage. And a 15% discount on the food tab is a nice perk for MFA members. Note too, that you can dine at Bravo without paying for admission to the Galleries- enter the MFA at the Fenway entrance.
