Shuffle, Surfcast, and Savour in a Seafood Fest

Auckland celebrates its Anniversary Weekend with the Auckland Seafood Festival this 30 January, 31 January, and 1 February 2010! Rain or shine, the festivities begin at noon till 7:00 in the evening.

Lobsters, clams, shrimps, oysters, crabs, scallops, squid, mussels, and various types of fish all on the offer by more than twenty stalls at the three-day holiday event at Halsey Street Wharf, Viaduct Harbour. Plus, international wines and beers for sampling. For the kids and those who’d like to cool off, Movenpick will have a pop up on site, too.

In complete party mode, the Seafood Festival will have eclectic local music for the old and young alike. Auckland’s Anniversary Weekend will have heaps of other activities, as well, such as competitions in surfcasting and slippery pole climbing, a fleet blessing, oyster shucking,  fish filleting, craft stores on display, and prizes to be given away every hour.

At the Seafood School, cooking classes will also be held, with guest chefs every day.

To get to the Seafood Festival from the Britomart Transport Centre, walk (2 minutes) to Queen Street near Customs St. D2, take a NEX bus with Britomart To Albany - Direction: Albany route. Get down at Fanshawe St. by the Victoria Park and walk (8 minutes) to Halsey Street.

Entrance fee is $15 per person, although children 13 years and below enter for free if accompanied by a parent.

There will, nonetheless, be a VIP lounge, to be located in “The Floating Pavilion” that will overlook the calm waters of the viaduct basin and have the perfect view of the entire festival.  Each VIP pack includes the VIP Gold Card that would entitle the holder to:

1. Access to his or her own VIP venue “The Floating Pavilion” in the viaduct basin overlooking the entire festival

2. Full access to all parts of the festival

3. Exclusive VIP entertainment

4. An open bar with unlimited beer, wine, tea, coffee, juice, and water

5. A delectable seafood platter with a wide selection of mouth watering seafood delicacies

6. Access to wine and beer tasting within the VIP venue and cooking demonstrations with tastings

7. $30 in vouchers to spend at the Rotary food stall within the main festival

8. $30 discount at the Auckland Seafood School

9. $30 ‘two for one’ entry to the Big Picture Wine experience

The VIP packages are:

  • A table  for 10 people - $1,250.00 + GST (tables limited  due to space restrictions)
  • Individual packs - $125.00 + GST per person
  • Private rooms for small groups also available
