New Service For Switch Flights At Pulkovo Airport

The only St. Petersburg airport Pulkovo which I posted about a few weeks before introduced a new service to make the life of transit passengers easier. Much easier.

Look, till today a transit passenger arriving at Pulkovo and switching his flights here had to get his luggage back and then register it again, again pass through all customs formalities + a second check-in, what was both inconvenient and to some degree absurd. Things were even worse when a passenger had to swicth not only flights, but terminals as well, for instance, arriving at Pulkovo-2 from Vienna and departing from Pulkovo-1 for Moscow. Such obsolete technology of handling connection flights led to longer time periods between them.

As of January 18 there is another technology, the one accepted in best airports worldwide. Now you must not get your luggage back and then register it again when going through Pulkovo with a switch of flights there. You check in only one time at an airport of departure and then get your luggage back at a final airport of arrival, for instance, a check-in with luggage at Bremen and getting the luggage only at Moscow. No additional passing through formalities are needed!

But. This works only in case if your air carrier sells you a through ticket, but not two tickets for two different legs (Bremen-St. Petersburg + St. Petersburg — Moscow).

There is also a special desk for transfer passengers at Pulkovo-1.

All these measures enable to reduce the time between switch flights to 45 minutes instead of 60 minutes earlier if a switch is at the same terminal, and 70 minutes instead of 150 minutes in case if you have to change terminals.
