St. Petersburg is a beer capital of Russia producing a lot of beer at large companies such as Heineken. But there are also many little, local breweries with its own technologies, sorts, territories of sales.

You can meet many of them, big and little ones, at the expo “A Pint of beer” to be held on January 23 at the Sport-Concert Complex.

The venue will be turned into “the largest pub in St. Petersburg”, organizators promise. I’d add, the largest in the country. Judge yourself: 400 sorts of beer, 20+ breweries, a very long unique single bar counter. Plus a series of concerts of young Russian bands.

You will be offered rare sorts of beer and ale, you will be able to conduct your own testing and take part in lottery. A St. Peterburg-based club “Beer etiquette” is going to display collections of cans, beer stoppers and glasses of its members.

And — open contest in billard, darts, table tennis and other kinds of competition. So, it’s going to be interesting even for those who do not like beer. And prefer vodka :)

Sport-Concert Complex, January 23, open 10.00-23.00

From local brands, I prefer Vasileostrovskoe (called after the Vasilievsky island, a part of historic center of  St. Petersburg).
