Get Into Shakespeare in the Park
“A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!” So goes my favorite line from William Shakespeare’s Richard III. So much drama and controversy abound the play on King Richard III as written by the famed poet, and yet so seductive and engaging a royal vile character he portrays.
Shakespeare was never more compelling , with Richard’s relatives an colleagues are murdered all due to king’s evil consuming passion with the Crown. A peak into the power and politics of England’s royal family 600 years ago.
Such was the first of Shakespeare’s great dramas that will be performed live beginning Saturday, 16 January, at 8:00pm, at The PumpHouse Amphitheatre, Killarney Reserve, Manurere Avenue, Takapuna.
Tickets are sold at: Adults $24.00, Senior Citizens and Students $20.00, Children (Under 15) $18.0, and Groups of 6 or more $20. Special rates for fundraising events or school group bookings are available. Call The PumpHouse Box office on 489-8360 for more information.
Tickets are sold over the counter at The PumpHouse, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm or 1 hour before the performance. Purchase can also be made online at .
Directed by Carol Dumbleton and James Bell, Richard III is certainly one Shakespeare in the Park you shouldn’t miss.
However if you’d rather be part of the cast or crew, instead, they’re still in need of people to help out making costumes, building sets, helping out at performances, as well as a few roles available for actors who’d like a smaller role or are just getting started with Shakespeare. Visit the for more details on how you could get involved.
Richard III runs till 13 February 2010.
