Potential Gigantic Aquarium Beside the CN Tower

Ripley Aquarium Toronto

It may not be here for another three years, but it is still very exciting news that the City of Toronto is considering the construction of a massive 14,000 square-metre aquarium to be set beside the CN Tower. Proposed by Ripley Entertainment from Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, this aquarium is said to be better than the other two aquariums they own in Tennessee and South Carolina. The proposed aquarium is three floors and will be the biggest aquarium in Canada after the Vancouver Aquarium in Stanley Park.

The aquarium will feature a large variety of aquatic species from jellyfish to sharks. With over 2 million people per year visiting the CN tower, the Aquarium will attract even more people due to its convenient location allowing tourists to see more in the area. The CN Tower and the potential aquarium duo will also attract more visitors to the Entertainment District and to the waterfront.

A few steps to complete before the project can be underway is rezoning of the area by The Toronto and East York community council, and if passed, the ultimate decision will be left for city council to decide. So fellow Torontonians, we must all be patient and hope for the successful construction of our country’s greatest aquarium!
