Get Your Forks Ready for Restaurant Week Across the South
January is usually a month to recoup, recover and recharge from the holidays.
Events tend to be the farthest thing from your mind, unless…unless that event has something to do with food – reasonably priced food, that is.
If there’s one thing that’s guaranteed to get you out of the house during January, it’s Restaurant Week.
No doubt about it, we in the South love our food. We also love to celebrate it and share it as well. And it doesn’t get any more accessible than during this time.
From Nashville, Tenn., to Amelia Island, Fla., to Alexandria, Va., a number of cities throughout the South hosts Restaurant Week in January. Not only does this event highlight some of the best culinary offerings from participating restaurants, but also allows you sample them at a very reasonable fixed price. For instance, you can enjoy a three-course meal for $30 during Charlotte (N.C.) Restaurant Week, January 22-31. It’s a win-win situation for your appetite (good food), culinary curiosity (perfect time to try a new restaurant) and most importantly, your wallet (you won’t spend too much.)
Here are a few others that are happening this month as well.
- Coordinated by the Virginia Beach Restaurant Association, the city’s Restaurant Week, January 17-24, features over 30 restaurants either offering special lunch ($10.10) and/or dinner ($20.10 or $25.10) menus.
- Five cities in South Carolina are celebrating Restaurant Week, January 11-17. It’s all about the food and the experience as you dine out in Columbia, Greenville, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach or the culinary favorite, Charleston.
- Norfolk, Va.’s Restaurant Week, January 24 – 31, allows you to try a three-course meal any one of the over 15 participating downtown restaurants for $20-30. Why stop at one night? Choose a restaurant or two, and treat yourself.
- January 24-31 is Williamsburg, Va.’s fourth annual Restaurant Week. Over 20 participating restaurants are providing either (or both) a prix-fixe two-course lunch ($10.10) or a three-course dinner ($20.10 or $3.10).
- For $26, you can try some of the best of the best dishes as you enjoy a three-course meal at over 15 participating restaurants in Charlottesville, Va. The city’s Restaurant Week is scheduled for January 25-31.
- Okay, so it’s not technically in January, but close enough since it’s the first week of February. Destin, Fla., is holding their first annual Restaurant Week, February 1-7. Expect the unexpected as you enjoy dishes from their participating restaurants.
- It’s all about choices during Baltimore, Md.’s Restaurant Week. With over 90 participating restaurants, if you can find a few you want to try, then you aren’t hungry. Taking place January 22 – February Three-course lunches are priced at $21.10, with three-course dinners priced at $35.10.
