Calling All Cowboy Artists and Fans
Nevada is still the home of the wild west. We have more wild mustangs than any other state, still have range roundups, Vegas hosts the and Elko is renown for its annual . And now Genoa, which may be the state’s first town, announces the and Juried Art Show.
The four-day festival expects to draw over 1,000 attendees per day to enjoy a star-studded cowboy lineup including Waddie Mitchell, Don Edwards, Paul Zarzyski, Lacy J Dalton, Dave Stamey, Larry Maurice, Richard Elloyan, David John and the Comstock Cowboys and McAvoy Lane. The Festival’s Master of Ceremonies will be KOLO Channel 8 personality John Tyson.
Western, cowboy, and southwest Indian artists are invited to submit an application to participate in the juried art show that will begin with a VIP Champagne Preview on Thursday evening with art displayed in local galleries. Artists may sell their art during the event. Organizers are asking artists to submit a $20 jurying fee for the event and a gallery fee of $250, if their work is accepted for exhibition.
The Genoa Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival is co sponsored by the Town of Genoa and the Carson Valley Arts Council, and will feature a star studded lineup of Cowboy poets and musicians as well as performances and workshops throughout Friday and Saturday including sessions on storytelling, ranch tours, blacksmithing, leather tooling, saddle making, and other traditional Western themes.
