Sydney Gets a Ben & Jerry’s | American Ice-Cream Store Opens in Manly
Ben & Jerry’s ice-creams are virtually an institution in America, but they’re newcomers to Australia. The Vermont ice-cream gurus opened their first Aussie store in Manly late last year, and with the summer sun beating down there’s no better time to sample some of the sweet treats.
The popular boutique serves up 18 flavours, including old favourites like chocolate chip cookie dough and the rock inspired cherry Garcia. The 18th flavour is an Australian original, Peanut Cookie-burra Dough. It’s got a fair dinkum name, but the malt ice-cream with chunks of peanut butter cookie dough, and a peanut butter swirl doesn’t sound too ocker to me! I wouldn’t dismiss it though, because $1 from every scoop of the ice-cream sold will benefit Mission Australia.
If ice-cream cones aren’t your thing, don’t sweat it. The store also serves up sundaes, shakes, and piping hot waffles.
The sea views and free Wi-Fi access make Ben & Jerry’s a great place to linger on a summer’s day. If you can’t make it to the Manly store you don’t have to miss out altogether. You can pick up a tub of Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream at selected Sydney delis.
