Easing Into the New Year, 2010

The New Year’s Eve’s festivities were, well. . . festive.  A lovely dinner, a bottle of wine, a little champagne, and fireworks at midnight.  A very Seattle way to welcome in the new year.

The view of the fireworks from by room at the Westin

I didn’t have to brave the weather to watch the fireworks either.  Nope, I got to stay warm and dry, watching the sky light up from the coziness of the bed in my room at the Westin.

This morning I met up with a few blogging friends for coffee and donuts at one of the best spots around town for just such activity, Top Pot.  It was great to talk travel with Pam Mandel of Nerds Eye View (and to meet J.) and Sheri Doyle of Pacific Northwest Journeys.

The subjects of our travel talk included slamming the door on 2009 and the beating that it gave the travel industry, hoping that 2010 is a more travel-friendly year, talking about our personal travel plans for the year, the projects were working on, the projects we’d like to work on, and we structure and commit our lives in such a way that travel plays a primary role.

I’m still looking forward to a day exploring the city, walking around, just poking into the nooks and crannies of the city.  It’s fun to be a tourist at home sometimes.

Welcome 2010!  I’m looking forward to getting acquainted with you.
