The Cannery: A Trendy Space in a Happening Place
Built in 1907, was once the largest peach cannery in the world located at the foot of Columbus Street overlooking Bay. Peaches are no longer canned here however, but there is now Del Monte Square, a vibrant waterfront marketplace. Here you will find neat restaurants, cafes, unique shops, and live entertainment. The brick warehouse has been converted into three levels with walkways, balconies, and bridges that surround the courtyard.
The outdoor courtyard features San Francisco’s most talented street performers that entertain the crowds every day. Many famous performers have also entertained on the courtyard stage including Robin Williams, Sheilds and Yarnell, and Jefferson Airplane.
Shopping at the Cannery is great if you are looking for something unique. This old building has been transformed into a hip urban space that is Über trendy. Endless festivals and activities for people of all ages happen at this spot. There are a few galleries, and clothing shops, and many outdoor cafes here to check out.
