Pamper Yourself at These Chicago Spas

Chicago is spa central, especially in the downtown area, where so many hotel spas are opening. Spa4

But hotel spas aren’t the only spas you can pamper yourself at in the Windy City.

Chicago has many “locally-grown spas” (boutique spas, if you will) that are indigenous to Chicago, as well as some national spas that are smaller than something you might find at a hotel but equally as good.

Here is a sampling of three spas many Chicagoans consider to be their favorites.

Salon Echo (1134 W Bryn Mawr Ave.; map it) – Located in the environmentally-conscious neighborhood of Edgewater, this salon and spa is as planet-friendly as its neighbors are, built with 85% recycled or sustainable materials (such as recycled PVC floors and marble counters salvaged from a yacht). Hair and nail care treatments use organic and botanic products. Facials are performed with organic ingredients and nut-based oils. Services include pumpkin enzyme peel; or the chocolate/strawberry facial; and the signature aroma massage with steam.

Mojo Spa (1468 N. Milwaukee Ave.; map it) – Owner Amanda Kezios, former personal chef, creates her own natural beauty products, which you can experience during a facial, manicure, or pedicure, or buy up front in this Wicker Park spa. Top sellers and services include the spa’s Go Green Mask with lettuce, seaweed, and lime used during the spa’s 30 minute facial and Dr. Feel Good Body Relief cream made with essential oils and water energized from crystals and sound therapy.

exhale (945 North State St.; map it) With core classes that blend Pilates and yoga (and are classes Hollywood stars swear by to tone their abs, legs, and arms), exhale near Chicago’s famous Rush St. is more than just a exercise studio. It also has a spa with such treatments as its newer LIFT facial, which is a unique, non-surgical face “lift” that utilizes sub-sensory microcurrent waves to tone and lift facial muscles, as well as massages, acupuncture, manicures, and pedicures.
