American Idol winner Kris Allen plays Vegas
Join American Idol winner Kris Allen at B.B. King’s Blues Club after midnight on Wednesday. The 2009 Idol contestant secured his victory with his original arrangements and memorable performances of Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine,” Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” and Kanye West’s “Heartless.” Since securing the title, Allen has had multiple songs appear on the Billboard charts including his finale song “No Boundaries” that hit No. 1 on the iTunes chart. Earlier in December, Allen released his debut album for 19 Recordings/Jive, featuring the already hit single “Live Like We’re Dying”.
Allen will be backed by the house band, B.B. King’s Las Vegas All-Stars, on the intimate nightclub stage. The nightclub, quickly becoming a Vegas hotspot for after-hours entertainment, features dinner, dancing and drinks in a New Orleans-style environment. King’s music exemplifies the down and dirty blues developed in the southern city and his hand-picked band delivers on the promise of his name, even if King is there only in spirit.
