Bird watching at Hong Kong Park Aviary
While at Hong Kong Park (map) last week, I visited the Aviary and really enjoyed seeing so many different kinds of birds flying around. I’m not much of a bird person but it amazed me how such a large aviary can be found in the middle of Hong Kong Park. It’s filled with numerous species of birds, plants and flowers, all making for a wonderfully green habitat.

The Aviary opened first in 1992 when I was just a little girl and this was the first time in years that I visited the attraction. Oftentimes, the Aviary and Hong Kong Park as a whole are visited by primary school students as an outdoor learning experience. The Park offers a guided tour and even has a yearly summer program though it’s also a great place just for families to visit on any day of the week without registering for a tour.
Admission is free at the Aviary and it is open daily from 9am to 5pm so you can relax and gaze at our feathery friends for as long as you don’t feed them anything—or else you will be penalized!

For eager bird watchers, there is a walk-in ‘Meeting Point for Morning Bird-Watchers at the Hong Kong Park’ every Wednesday morning from 8am to 10am. There is no joining fee and you can just walk in (on time, of course) to join. For enquiries you can call +852 2521 5059.
