Outdoor Ice Rink Opens Next to Chicago’s Wrigley Field
Now that is finally getting snow (and just in time for Christmas), why not do something that will really get you into the holiday spirit: ice skating at Chicago’s legendary Wrigley Field.
Called , this outdoor ice pond is set right in the “shadows of the Friendly Confines” in the parking lot next to the stadium, between Clark and Addison (1100 W. Addison St., ), and is open through February 28 with daily hours (except for December 25) and reduced hours on December 24, 31, and January 1.
December 24 : 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
December 31 : 2 p.m. – 10 p.m.
January 1 : 12 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Saturdays : 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Sundays : 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays : 2 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Fridays : 2 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Admission is $10; $6 for kids ages 12 and under. Skate rentals are $10, or you can bring your own.
There is half-price admission and skate rentals on Mondays and Tuesdays.
You can also get a season pass for $50.

Murphy’s Bleachers (3655 North Sheffield; 773-281-5356; ) appropriately named for being located right across from the entrance to Wrigley Field’s bleachers section and has a large selection of authentic Cubs memorabilia, including uniforms, bats, game balls, and a scale model of Wrigley Field in the back room.
Yak-Zies Bar and Grill (3710 N. Clark St.; 773-525-9200; ) known for its homemade buffalo wings and pizza.
Harry Caray’s Tavern (3551 N. Sheffield Ave.; 773-327-7800; ), which has the look and feel of its sister location in downtown on Kinzie Street but offers a unique feature: a 60-foot-6-inch bar (the distance between the pitcher’s mound and home plate).
