Sydney Gets New Taxi Pick-Up Points
It’s never easy catching a taxi in Sydney during the festive season, but the local council is doing its best to help out. From today, there’ll be an extra 10 pick-up points around the city.
“The introduction of additional taxi set-down/pick-up zones in the city will assist cabbies in doing the right thing when picking up fares. With more than 400 cabs at taxi ranks during peak period demand we need them to be safe and efficient when stopping in and around the city centre,” explained City of Sydney Director of City Community and Cultural Services, Garry Harding.
The new sites are:
- Phillip St north of King St
- Elizabeth St south of Hunter St
- Sussex St south of Erskine St
- Elizabeth St north of King St
- Phillip St south of Bridge St
- George St south of Wilmot St
- George St south of Liverpool St
- George St south of Goulburn St
- Goulburn St west of Pitt St
- Pitt St north of Campbell St
