Make Music with Dub Conspiracy Matakana New Year’s Eve Party
Greet 2010 by dancing to the groove of Dub Conspiracy at the New Year’s Eve Party of Music Mountain Matakana. Salmonella Dub, Ladi 6, Cornerstone Roots, and Whirimako Black are some of the artists in the awesome line up of the 12-hour festival of Auckland’s finest Dub, Roots, and Electronica that will be held on 31st December.
The much-looked forward to event will be held at Music Mountain Matakana, a natural amphitheatre laid out high in the midst of hills near Matakana, just an hour’s drive north of Auckland City. Concert starts at 1:00pm on 31 December 2009 and ends 1:00am of 1 January 2010.
General Admission is $125. When purchasing tickets online at www.eventfinder.co.nz, enter the Promo code MMMNYE and receive a Special 20% Discount, for a limited time. All ticket buyers will, nonetheless, receive a free compilation CD of the New Year’s Eve artists upon presenting of tickets at the gate. Children below 14 will be admitted free, but full price applies to those over 14 years of age. Note that all events at Music Mountain Matakana are licensed, and as such minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Directions: To get there, drive north up into the hills from Matakana Village along the Matakana Valley Road. At the top of the hill, turn left into Govan Wilson Road and just follow the signs to the Music Mountain Matakana and parking areas. Please be advised that the Rodney District Council has required a two-way traffic be maintained on Govan Wilson Road at all times.
Parking: There will be bulk parkingĀ in several areas within 500 metres of the venue. Parking gates will be attended by guides and flood lit after dark. There will also be alternative parking provided on the Matakana Valley Road. A courtesy coach will continuously shuttle to and fro the venue every 20 minutes. Signs will be placed on the Matakana Valley Road to show when car parks are full and direct remaining traffic to the bulk Park and Ride shuttle service.
Charter Coaches: Charter coaches for the New Years Eve Party will leave at Sturdee St (Loaded Hog), Auckland Central Business District, at 10.30 am, on 31st December and go directly to the Matakana gates. Tickets must, however, be purchased in advance since the driver will not accept payment on the actual day. The return trip will leave Matakana at 1.30am, 1 January and go directly to Sturdee St.
Tickets for the return trip are only $20.00 and can be purchased from Eventfinder or Real Groovy Records at 448 Queen St, Auckland.
Tips: Wear sensible footwear and clothing and be advised that at an altitude of 1200 feet it can get real cool after dark. Sunblock, hats, and torches are recommended. No tents will be allowed as they block the view of other people.
refreshments: Music Mountain Matakana has its own funny money as currency with a value of $7 per coupon that’s nonrefundable. Thus, all food and drinks sold are priced in multiples of $7 at the Punga Bar and Kauri Kitchen.
