The Best Disney Tidbits of the Week

From time to time I see a little tidbit here and a little morsel there relating to my favorite Mouse,  Mickey, of course, and the Disney parks that he calls home.  Here are some little bits of information I uncovered this week that I think are certainly worth mentioning …..315769255_b66e1caab9

According to Studios Central, a blog site devoted entirely to happenings at Walt Disney World Resorts, Hollywood Studios  theme park (map), a new ticketing system is being tested for Rock n’ Roller Coaster.

In the past, guests wishing to ride this attraction have had to wait in the usual queue or receive a FastPass, which allowed guests to return at a later time and proceed to the head of the waiting line.

It seems that under this new system, guests are given a numbered pass and sent to a holding area where kids can play games, a d.j. plays music and you can mix, mingle and wait without standing in line.

I think this sounds like an interesting and creative idea  to entertain guests while they wait ”in line”, and fits well with the theme of Rock n’ Roller Coaster.  I wonder if they will try this on other attractions as well.  Hopefully, from a parents point of view, the waiting zone will not be in a gift shop!!!

I tip my Mouse Ears Hat to a fan at Allears.net for this little tidbit.  It appears that during inclement weather, characters that are scheduled to appear throughout Magic Kingdom theme park, (map) for meet and greets, can actually be found in the Main Street Exposition Hall.

This guest was lucky enough to find Disney’s newest princess, Princess Tiana, Santa, even Scrooge McDuck among many other favorite Disney characters greeting guests here while they escaped the rain.

Finally,  HGTV is holding a Holiday Getaway Sweepstakes with the chance to win a 4-night trip to Walt Disney World Resort for yourself and 3 other guests.  The prize package  includes lots of fun extras like a stay in Cinderella’s Royal Suite, a $500 Disney gift card.

Participants, aged 21 and older, may enter online once per day until the close of the contest on December 28, 2009.  Who wouldn’t love to spend the night in Cinderella’s Castle?  I know I would be so excited, I might not even sleep!

This is the wrap-up of this weeks best tidbits.  I will keep my eyes open for more bits of information and will share more of the best Disney hints as I uncover them.
