Our New Year’s Guide to Broward County

There has been talk lately that Broward County is the new South Beach. While I’m not sure if I agree that it has all the pizazz of its southern neighbor, this area has added a lively punch in recent years.  Take a look at what is going on around the area for New Year’s Eve:

Lola’s on Harrison will offer 3 seatings on New Year’s Eve. The early seating will be from 5:00 – 6:30pm and includes a 3-course menu for $60++/person. The 2nd seating (7-8pm) is 4-courses and is $70++/person and the 3rd seating (9pm-close) is $80++/person and includes a Champagne Toast, Party Favors and live music. Highlights include Warm Almond Crusted Manchego Cheese with Hot Garlic-Sherry Vinaigrette, Pan-Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras with a Sun-dried Cherry-Green Lentil Salad, Pan-Seared Hawaiian Tuna with Black Forbidden Rice and Ancho Chili Sauce, Grilled Certified Angus Beef Filet Mignon and a Dark Truffle Cake with White Chocolate Ice Cream. Whiskey Blue and The Living Room will host a chic New Year’s Party. The cover is $100 and it includes an open bar from 9pm-1am and a champagne toast at midnight. DJ Billy Gotti will be in Living Room and DJ Dysquo will be in Whiskey Blue. Bova Prime presents New Year’s Eve 2010 — New York State of Mind. This evening will feature dining, music and live entertainment. Early seating begins at 6:00 pm and late seating begins at 9:00pm. They will feature a 4-course prix-fixe dinner menu with Perrier Jouet Fleur de Champagne. Call 954.767.6555 for reservations. Bova Prime is located at 401 E Las Olas Blvd.

3030 Ocean is offering a 6-course menu for New Year’s. Early seating will be at 6:00, 6:30 and 7:00 pm at be priced at $100++/person. Late seating at 8:00, 8:30, 9:00 and 9:30 pm will be priced at $165++/person. Enjoy a selection of gourmet delights including Carpaccio of Big Eye Tuna, Pastrami of Duck Breast with Watercress and Frisse, Florida Citrus and Pomegranate Vinaigrette, Wild Striped Bass with Organic Rice Grits and Honshimeji Mushroom Vinaigrette and a Maine Lobster ‘Thermidor’ with Home made Linguine and Shaved Black Truffles. 3030 Ocean is located at 3030 Holiday Drive in Fort Lauderdale.

Mai-Kai Restaurant will have 2 shows on New Year’s Eve. The first will be at 7:30 pm and the cover charge will be $21.00/person. The second show will be at 11:15 and the cover charge will be $40/person with a minimum party of 4. Seating will be available for dinner with or without the show and reservations require a $25/person deposit (to be deducted from your dinner check.) Farraddays’ at Isle Casino will offer a special dinner from 5pm-midnight. Enjoy your choice of Lobster or Crab Bisque, a celebration salad, Chicken Breast Francais, Veal Oscar, Surf and Turf or Stuffed Flounder and your choice of dessert (Ginger Raspberry Creme Brulee, Double Chocolate Raspberry Bomb or Seasonal Fruit Parfait).
