Businesses That Light Up The City
After you visit the houses around San Diego county, visit the various businesses that have decorated to their hearts content. The Del Mar Fairgrounds Holiday of Lights allow you to stay in your car as you drive around animated holiday lights. You can even pack up the pets for this one!
- Anderson Farms/Victoria’s Gardens – 12150 Woodside Ave., Lakesive. Located behind Arby’s. 2.5 acres of lighted wonderland until December 24. 10am-7pm. 619-390-9571 – www.victoriagardens.us
- Del Mar Fairgrounds Holiday of Lights – Jimmy Durante Blvd./Via de la Valle. Off I-5 until January 3. Sun-Thur, 5:30-10pm, Fri. and Sat. 5:30-11pm. $14/vehicle (up to 5 people), $19/van or car (6 or more). www.holidayoflights.com.
- Hotel del Coronado – 1500 Orange Ave., Coronado. Tree in the lobby is beautifully decorated plus, 100,000 lights illuminate the resort until Jan. 3. 619-522-8490. www.hoteldel.com
- San Diego Bay Boat Parade of Lights – “Christmas at the Zoo”. Fireworks begin at 5:30pm, then parade until 9pm. Starts off at Shelter Island, goes through the harbor and ends at the Ferry Landing on Coronado. www.sdparadeoflights.org.
- San Diego Botanic Garden “Garden of Lights” – 230 Quail Gardens, Encinitas. 100,000+ lights illuminating the plants and trees. Until December 30 (closed Dec. 23 & 25), 5-9pm. Different activities nightly. Admission: Adults $12, children 3-12 $4. 760-436-3036. www.SDBGarden.org.
- San Diego Zoo’s Jungle Bells – Balboa Park, until January 2. (closed on 12/24-25 and 12/31) from 5-8pm. Snow at the Zoo’s entrance, hand-bell choirs, nightly tree-lighting ceremony, ice carver and skating at a “hybrid ice” skating rink. www.sandiegozoo.org.
