A Christmas Fair in St. Petersburg

christmas

The Ostrovsky square has been turned into a great Christmas space with a New Year’s tree, many shops, games and illumination. 70 little houses resemble the Christmas squares of the European cities, each house is selling both Christmas and New Year -related and non-related items and prepares many dilicious dishes of  the traditional Russian cousine. The space is limited by erected walls with an arch as an entrance.

There is also a skating-rink with a price for services below the city’s average, just for 100 rubles. There are also many other attractions.

The fair will be open till  January 7 daily since 12.00 till 22.00, including the New Year’s Eve and night. From December 31 to January 1 the festival is scheduled till 4 a. p.  Last year it was cheerful here. On weekends you can visit master-classes in different arts.

Here you will find a series of photos of the opening of this year’s fair which took place on December 14. Last year, the fair saw up to 800,000 visitors.
