Disney Pulls All Stops for “Princess” Release
The much publicized, much anticipated nationwide release of Disney’s newest musical feature, “The Princess and The Frog” continues to grow with opportunities for free music downloads, a phone call from Princess Tiana, even crafts and treats to make at home.
In case you have missed any of the excitement, this release is a return for Disney animators to the old-school, hand-drawn animation. The story is a modern twist on the old tale, set in New Orleans and the bayous of Louisiana, featuring a beautiful young girl and a frog that desperately wants to return to being a prince. The film was released recently in theaters in New York and Los Angeles, but will be released nationwide, today.
“The Princess and The Frog” introduces the first African-American princess for Disney, Princess Tiana. Earlier this fall, Princess Tiana was introduced at both Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. And, through the holiday season, a special musical show takes place several times daily aboard the Liberty Belle showboat as Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee.
Pushing for large theater audiences this opening weekend, Disney is offering free iTunes music download of Mama Odie’s song “Dig a Little Deeper” from the soundtrack, with advance ticket purchase. Additionally, for a limited time, tickets purchased on Fandango, for opening weekend, and registering with Disney Movie Rewards will allow guests to receive a free enchanted call from Tiana herself.
Become a friend on Facebook and you will be able to read comments, share reviews and play Dr. Facilier’s Parlor. Lots of “Frog” related food and crafts are available online at Disney Family.com to continue the fun once you return from the theater.
I know we are really excited to see this movie, to meet a new princess and hum along with the songs by Randy Newman. Heading to the theater? Let me know what you think too.

I really enjoyed this movie. In fact, I would place it firmly among the much beloved 90s Disney films (Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, etc). The story is interesting and fun, the animation is absolutely beautiful, and the songs perfectly fit the mood. Nothing too scary for kids; quite engaging for adults too. My fiance teared up several times (and so did I). Probably the best film Disney has made in years. I would highly recommend it.
I am so glad you liked the movie. So often when there is so much hype surrounding a movie it tends to fall flat. I can’t wait to go see it tomorrow. Thanks for the review.
