Vegas Celebrates Cat Guts and Horse Hair

For those who love the haunting, soaring sound of strings, BOWFIRE Holiday Heartstrings, presents a unique concert that celebrates fiddling, singing, step dancing and music by some of the world’s greatest Celtic and Bluegrass fiddlers and classical violinists.  The group will perform holiday classics such as “The Nutcracker Suite,” “Sleigh Ride,” “So This Is Christmas,” “Dreydl, Dreydl, Dreydl,” and “The Christmas Song.” The ensemble takes audiences on a journey that moves seamlessly from jazz to classical to bluegrass to Celtic to rock.

BOWFIRE, which launched in 2000, tours internationally and picked up some of the world’s best musicians playing stringed instruments from cultures all over the planet including the exotic Chinese erhu and other instruments which are featured on two CDs, a hit PBS TV special “BOWFIRE Live”, and a Cineplex Big Screen event in Canada.  Lenny Solomon, BOWFIRE’s founder and Artistic Director, is one of the world’s most skilled jazz violinists, and a JUNO Award winner (the “Canadian Grammy”). Solomon hand-picked the cast of BOWFIRE from the best string performers in each genre, arranged the program, and wrote several of the numbers.
