The D-List Princess Kathy Griffin Visits DC
With an irreverent rapid fire wit, stand-up comedian Kathy Griffin has made a career out of being the top D-List celebrity.
And the controversial, brash Hollywood outsider is coming to Washington, DC.
Griffin loves to poke fun at and trash both A-list celebs and at times, herself. She usually has a couple ongoing celebrity “feuds”. Most have been self-manufactured, which has caused her to get “banned” from several television shows, including The View, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Live with Regis and Kelly as well as from late-night television shows hosted by Jay Leno, David Letterman and Conan O’Brian.
And no one is safe from her witty straight-forward humor and often tacky comments.
She love to push the envelope, often making controversial statements on live TV, including a more famous off-color remark at a heckler during the live 2009 New Year’s Eve CNN broadcast from New York’s Times Square with Anderson Cooper, as well as a Jesus comment that got Christians up in arms as she accepted her 2007 Emmy for her Bravo show, My Life on the D-List.
And if self-promotion through controversy were a career, she’d be an industry leader.

I’m reading her book right now. It’s as irreverent (although not as bombastic) as her stand up routine. I think she’s funny many times, but like many who use a similar style to comedy (over-the-top, never stopping), I can only take the routine in very small doses. A little is funny, sometimes hysterical, but then I just want it to stop.
