Genki Sushi at Sen-ryo Sushi Bar

Sushi bars are practically everywhere in Hong Kong but my favourite one is Sen-ryo. With multiple locations in Causeway Bay, Taikoo Shing, Central and Kowloon, it’s one of the most popular sushi chains in the city. With fresh sashimi, rolls and other Japanese delicacies, Sen-ryo is well liked not just for its food but also for being affordable.

It’s lots of fun sitting at the rotating sushi belt and picking out the yummy dishes moving right before you but you can also place your own orders if what you want isn’t available on it. My favourites are the spicy salmon gunkan (HK$14 ), eel sushi (HK$18) and fried prawn roll (HK$25) with a bowl of marinated tomatoes (HK$14) on the side.

I eat at this restaurant quite often and I’m even collecting stamps so that I can get their VIP card for 2010. Only four more stamps to go and I’ll be a proud sushi member! Since they have a branch in Cityplaza, which is right next to where I live right now, it’s been my go to place for quite a while. It’s so popular that I’ve gotten used to taking a number and waiting for seats to clear out at the conveyor belt, especially during peak times such as lunch and dinner. It’s the same case with all their branches and although it takes a lot of patience to be seated by the sushi belt, I highly recommend holding out for a place over there as the novelty of the experience just isn’t the same if you get a normal table.

I have two friends in town this weekend and I’m definitely taking them out for some sushi.
