Orient Express: not a train, but a restaurant

PA190020

A train which you will miss. The Orient Express starts its journey every day, but the route does not go through European countries  to the East, it goes via European and eastern cousines.

Located in the very center of  St. Petersburg (and, interestingly, not far the Moskovskyi railway station), the restaurant has a very exciting interior which resembles the one of a train. First room with cosy apartments with tables decorated as early last century. Second room is something like an waiting room at a railway station. Walls adorned with models of steam-engined locomotives.  Bar is a ticket-office. Pictures reflecting railway themes. And many other items including a sound in WC reffering to sound of wheels  rolling on rails.

Cousine has European and Asian dishes. It’s all listed in detail on the web, so I’ll not repeat it here. What you may wnat to know is price. The restaurant is not expensive, $30 will be enough to have good dinner (without alhocol).

The venue has also a buffet located in the same building. If the first and second rooms can be reffered as fisrt and second classes, the buffet is the third class, or in modern terms “econom”. In railway terms, it is a “suburban train”. I think the place is worth visiting just for its interior. I have also tasted the local dishes some time ago and liked it.

Address: Marata-street, 21. You will not miss the entrance (see the picture above)!
