The Green Gourmet Brings Fresh, Organic Flavors to Delray Beach
If you are looking for clean, flavorful cuisine that is also good for you, look no further than The Green Gourmet in Delray Beach. Open for less than a month at The Shoppes at Addison Place, Chef/owner Joey Giannuzzi (formerly of Henry’s in Delray Beach) has made it easy to feed your body with high-quality organic ingredients. Not only do these dishes taste amazing, but if you make a habit of eating this type of food, you will feel better too. Plus, there are extremely affordable and worth every penny.
Rather than focus on the glitz and glamor that is so commonly associated with South Florida, Joey focuses on being “green” – from the ingredients he uses in the food to the tiles on the countertops made of recycled glass and sand to the bamboo plates he uses when serving the food. He even plans to switch over to solar powered energy in the future. His concentration on these high-quality ingredients only improves the all-around flavors.
The menu includes a nice selection of regular favorites, combined with rotating specials. Four fresh soups will be made daily, and a variety of sandwich and wraps will be also be offered. You will always find fresh seafood, chicken, pasta, rice, salads and vegetable side dishes in the case. These can be heated up to eat in the cafe or can be packaged to go. No worries here, as they wouldn’t even think about heating something up for you in the microwave.
On my visit, I tasted my way through the offerings – the succulent wild caught Equadorian shrimp were lightly seasoned and grilled; you could taste the simple flavors and the freshness of the vegetables in the Ratatouille; the comforting texture of the Caramelized Cauliflower Mashed will soon become a signature dish; and you can’t forget the extraordinary line-up of desserts – I tried the carrot cake made with organic carrots, but you have plenty more options to choose from including a chocolate cake, sugar-free cheesecake, fruit tarts, vegan cupcakes, scones, cookies and more.
They also offer fruit smoothies, a vegetable lasagna, a beef lasagna, Joey’s signature chicken meatballs, a homemade turkey meatloaf made with sun-dried cranberries and more. I know what that calls for — some more visits are definitely in order.
In addition, they do offer a small selection of wines and beer (16 wines and 6 beers) – all organic, of course. You can purchase these by the bottle, but wine will also be available by the glass to enjoy on-site.
For those who are too busy to escape to this new location, stay tuned as The Green Gourmet is hoping to offer delivery in the near future, plus they already offer catering services.
