Great news! I know many people wanted to know when the Sapsan, a Siemens-produced high-speed train, will travel between Moscow and St. Petersburg, what is a time-table and what is a ticket price.
Now this information is available.
Its first trip Sapsan will make on December 11. Prices are different: from 2400 to 3600 rubles for econom-class, till 4700 to 6700 rubles for business-class. Not much comparing with prices for tickets of airlines, which cost about the same and require an early arrival to an airport.
A detailed photo report of Sapsan is here.
The sale of tickets will start in early next week. Time-table is thought to include three departures a day: at 06.45, 13.00 and 19.00. At the same time from Moscow and St. Petersburg. Travel time is 3 hours 45 minutes instead of today’s 4 hours 30 minutes reached by a speed train “Nevsky express” departing Moscow in the evening.
The ticket offices of the Russian Railways (RZD) are listed here. There are also many travel agencies from which you can buy a ticket but with an additional fee.
Have a nice trip at a speed of 200 kmhour!
