Restaruant Review: Siam Thani, Edinburgh

I recently had the most lovely meal at Siam Thani, at the top of Broughton Street in Edinburgh.

siam thani

It looks like a fairly small place, but there’s a larger dining room just in the back.  They serve a number of Thai dishes and a few curries, and for the vegetarians you’ll find you are well taken care of.

Service here is impeccable and moves at a friendly but swift pace.  We didn’t feel hurried in any way but everything was always kept in check.

The dishes are very large portions and are tasty – we opted out of dessert, but the starters and mains were more than pleasing.  Their classic dish, the pad thai, is a mound of noodles and your choice of chicken/meat/veg and it comes with spices on the side, so you can make it as hot(spicy) as you like.  Don’t miss out, though, on the springroll starters – there’s a couple of choices that are all tasty.

Several Thai beers are available by the bottle as well as an excellent wine list.  Given the great service and the large portions, I found Siam Thani very good value for money.  They offer a two-course theatre menu in the early evenings if you’re particularly budget conscious, which has allows you a very good selection at a great price.

Broughton Street has plenty of choices when it comes to good food and drink (Pani Solinksa and Artisan Roast in particular) but don’t miss out on Siam Thani.
