  • North Carolina High Country has launched a new visitors’ website. All of the information that you need to plan an upcoming trip to the area can be found at here.
  • Thinking about visiting Virginia for the holiday season? There’s a lot to see and do, so you don’t want to miss out on anything.
  • Don’t forget about the Johnny Mercer Centennial happening in Savannah, Ga. Mark your calendar for the statue unveiling in Ellis Square near City Market in downtown on November 18.

Veterans Day Events/Celebrations

  • Active and retired military personnel, along with their families can get in free to any of the nation’s 391 National Park Service sites on Tuesday, November 11.
  • The public can attend the National Veterans Day Ceremony at Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C. The gates open at 8 a.m. and there will be a free shuttle service. It is highly recommended to arrive early.
  • There’s a number of parades happening around the region on November 11. You’ll find them in such places as Birmingham, Ala., Atlanta, Ga., Nashville, Tenn., and Leonardtown, Md.
  • And speaking of celebrations, Gatlinburg, Tenn., has been designated as a regional site for Veterans Day Observance. The city’s events kick off at 11 a.m. on November 11.
