The St. Petersburg’s only airport Pulkovo has its own very good site in English with all the essential detailes you may need to get well navigated, so for special needs go there. I deliver you some basic facts about the venue, traffic and a few detailes not mentioned at the web-page.

All flights to and from St. Petersburg are handled by Pulkovo, which is rather comfortable from a traveler’s point of view. The airport has two terminals located not far from each other, but anyway within a 10 minutes trip by public transport to get from one to another. It’s important for those changing flights in St. Petetrsburg, for example, arriving by domestic flight and then departuing abroad or  vice versa.

Pulkovo-1 handles domestic flights and sometimes international charters. Pulkovo-2 deals with regular and charter international ones. Be sure when heading for the airport to check  which terminal you need. This information is usually put into your ticket.

Another comfortable point is the fact that the airport is located within a half-an-hour trip from the city, just a few kilometres from the St. Petersburg’s center. Actually, one may say it’s just in the city with very good transport connections served by both public transport and private companies. All the routes pass by or end at the metro station Moskovskaya.

Despite this I’d recommend you to have about an hour in reserve before the start of check-in, when you depart the city and must get to the airport in time. The thoroughfare connecting the airport and the city is sometimes congested by vehicles.

This “additional” hour when things go luckily you may spend at the Costa Coffee coffeshop which has two outlets in Pulkovo-1. Pulkovo-1 is a single building with two arrival-departures zones, so if you cannot see your flight aat one of these zones, be sure to find at another one. The zones connected by a through access has each own Costa Coffee, between them there is a little outlet of Eurasia restaurant featuring Japanes cousine. One of the zones has a restaurant “The crown of Siberia”.

Pulkovo-2 is divided into two separate buildings: Arrival and Departure. The Arrival has Costa Coffee, the Departure has a Shocoladnitsa coffeeshop, a piece of popular Russian eatery chain.
