Sydney Photo Friday: Freedom Arch in Cabramatta

Cabramatta is one of those Sydney suburbs that gets a bad wrap, but the town’s Freedom Arch reminds us that it’s not that bad … or perhaps that its heart is in the right place. The Asian-style arch proudly says “Freedom and Democracy” in English, Vietnamese, Lao, and Khmer. It’s a reminder of what the area is all about, the inclusion it hopes for, even if it doesn’t always achieve it. The arch marks the entrance of Freedom Plaza, one of Cabramatta’s richest multicultural shopping areas.
