Live Blues at El Samovar de Rasputín in La Boca

Not many people come to Buenos Aires specifically for a night of blues, but there are a number of good bands in town (such as Botafogo, Memphis la Blusera, Alejandro Medina, la Napolitana) and one of the top venues to find good blues is El Samovar de Rasputín.
This casual bar is in the heart of La Boca neighbourhood, the working-class barrio that has transformed itself into a living art museum. It is located a couple of blocks from Calle Caminito, and since you are going to come to La Boca anyway, why not take some time and drop in at El Samovar.
This eclectic blues bar is a favorite after hours spot for locals (2am – 5am). Check out the “dish-of-the-day” and enjoy live music. Try the “rabas” with a cool beer, you will not regret it. The place is run by the eccentric Napolitano (aka Napo), a funky character who has met the likes of Mick Jagger, Taj Mahal and Eric Clapton, not to mention Pavarotti.
A safety tip: El Samovar De Rasputín is easily accessible by bus (#53 or 29) but make sure to get the right directions or take a radiotaxi, specially at night, since La Boca is not the place to wander around.
