Mark Carroll, the son of a sculptor and master carver of religious woodcarvings and a landscape and portrait painter, originally from New York is a welcome addition to the artist community where he recently opened The Sculpture Studio in Cave Creek.

Mark is inspired by the beauty of nature, a kinship he deepened during his five month treks of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine.  He primarily works with raw materials like wood, stone, terra cotta, bronze, steel, and stainless steel.  His style ranges from representational to abstract typically using the human figure and nature’s organic shapes as his subject.

sculptor2Mark has created commissioned work for many public spaces, corporate centers and residential communities.  One of his pieces is part of the Towamencin Corporate Center in Lansdale, Pa. where he carved a 5’x12’ mural using eight different species of wood, depicting scenes of nature and rural life in Eastern Pennsylvania.

As an example of his broad range of talent, he is a sculptor/model-maker who has designed for toy companies like Fisher Price, Toys-R-Us, and Kid Design for many years.
