Bicyclists Rally for More Open Space in North Phoenix
The Town of Cave Creek, known for its scenic roads, cooler temperatures and inspiring vistas is a haven for bicycle enthusiasts to experience vast open roads and mountain trails in the heart of the Desert Foothills.

The Town of Cave Creek’s first Bicycle Festival, the weekend of November 13-15, will help raise money to purchase 4,000 acres of State Trust Land. This open space will connect Cave Creek Regional Park with Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area doubling the size of both parks.
Rather than a single bike ride, this weekend-long festival will offer two main bicycle events; a mountain bike race on Saturday, Nov. 14 and the Discovery Road Ride on Sunday, Nov. 15. The mountain bike race has a 20-mile trail with the first male and female winners each receiving a $250 cash prize. Custom trophies will be awarded to the first three bicyclists who cross the finish line and all other bicyclists who finish the race will be given hand-made medallions.
The Discovery Road Race will have two route options where bikers will choose from a 35-mile route or a 50-mile route. The difference is the 50-mile route has a steeper and more difficult climb.
In true Cave Creek fashion, there will be other celebatory events including a parade, outdoor concerts, fairs, fireworks and a Fat Tire beer garden.
Open to anyone interested, the festival caters to individuals who love the outdoors and who want to preserve the parks plus reserve more land for future generations to enjoy. With the addition of 4,000 acres, Cave Creek will encompass nearly 10,000 acres of land available for outdoor activities, more open space per capita than any other city or town in Arizona.
