Walking with the Ghosts in the South, Part Three
One thing is for certain, the South is filled with ghosts. And this Halloween, where
ever you are in the region, you can spend some time getting acquainted with them.
Here is the last installment of places in the South where you can go walking with the ghosts.
- Known for its bourbon, horses and scenery, Kentucky also has its share of haunts that refuse to leave the state. The Ghost Walking Tours of Louisville takes you around some of the haunted places in downtown. And there’s more – a lot more. In Lexington, there’s Ward Hall Haunted Plantation Tour and Ghost Walk at White Hall. The 9th annual Ghost Walk and Creepy Crawl is a 90-minute guided tour of downtown hauntingly fascinating past. Did you know that Rohs Opera House (Cynthiana) is the third most haunted building in Kentucky? So, it would make sense that it would be the starting point for the ghost walk that takes you through downtown.
- The state of Virginia is no stranger to spirits and hauntings. Nearly all the regions in the entire state offer some sort of ghost walk or tour.
- Are you just dying to spend some time in West Virginia this Halloween weekend. Okay, so that was a bad pun, but seriously you’ll find some spook-tacular ghosts and their stories in the state. The Ghost Tours of Harpers Ferry provides some insight into the town’s past as well as its spirits. Take a walk through Lewisburg historic district and Old Stone Cemetery on the Candlelight Ghost Tours of Historic Lewisburg. Learn about the restless spirits that haven’t left Parkersburg during their ghost tour, said to be one of the top in the nation.
- If you are spending this Halloween weekend in Maryland, doesn’t matter where, just know that there are many spirits around you.
- Many may think D.C. is spooky enough, and that’s without the ghosts. To learn more about the spirits that won’t leave, check out Washington D.C. Ghost Tours or Ghost Story Tour of Washington.
