Walking with the Ghosts in the South, Part Two
So, did the first installment spook you or intrigue you?
No doubt about it, ghost tours offer a fascinating look into a city’s past. 
Here are more opportunities to go walking with the ghosts in the South on Halloween.
- In Georgia, the Atlanta Haunted History Tour is a part trolley tour and part walking tour. The two and a half hour event introduces you to the darker side of the city. Learn about the famous Oakland Cemetery, and hear about the city’s infamous characters. Ghost Tours of Atlanta spin tales about the restless spirits that still around among the living in the city. Don’t overlook the ghost tours in the metro area, such as Roswell, Marietta, Canton, Norcross and Lawrenceville. In Macon, you can enjoy a tour of Riverside Cemetery featuring costume actors talking about different individuals buried there.
- It’s not always blue skies and sunny in the Sunshine State. In fact, certain parts of Florida have quite a past and many characters that go with it. Take Amelia, for instance. This serene vacation spot is filled with all kinds of ghosts. Learn why they haunt they do during the various ghost tours. Did you know that Monticello is considered to be one of the most haunted cities of the South? Find out the reason why on their ghost tour. So exactly what all went on at the site of the Hippodrone State Theatre in Gainesville? Learn on the guided tour about the good and bad that went on at the site, and who still lingers behind. Central Florida may be all about the orange groves, world-famous attractions and beaches, but it once had a dark side as well. Explore the other side further on Kissimmee Ghost Tour, The Mount Dora Ghost Walk, Historic Tours of Cassadaga, Haunts of the World’s Most Famous Beach (Daytona Beach), History and Haunts Tour at Tampa Theatre, Ghost Tour St. Pete, Historic Ghost Tours of Punta Gorda. In the southern part of the state, you’ll find The Original Ghost Tours of Key West.
- South Carolina is filled with its own share of spirits. In Columbia, you can take the Gore and Folklore Tour at South Carolina Confederate and Relic Room. Hear stories about eerie going-ons and more. There’s nothing better than
listening to scary stories than by lantern. You may be wondering who’s around you during the Historic Hauntings Tour at Robert Mills House and Gardens (Columbia). You can find out who still haunts Beaufort as you take part in the 17th annual Beaufort Ghost Tours. Listen as guides spin tales about Mrytle Beach’s hauntings and spooky happenings during the Ghost & Legends Tour. Tour around downtown Greenville with the Greenville Ghost Tour to discover what haunting secrets the city hides. - In North Carolina, Asheville offers Ghost Haunts & Tours and Ghost Hunters of Asheville, both provide you with sufficient ghost stories and lore. While it’s not a tour, it still involves ghost – Mars Hill College is hosting Appalachian Ghost Stories. Take a ghost tour of the Historic Gold Hill (N.C.) Historic Park. Carolina History & Haunts in Greensboro is presenting Nightmares Around Elm Street. The 90-minute tour introduces you to some of downtown’s haunting spirits. Also in Greensboro, Preservation North Carolina is offering “Spirits of Hillborough” Halloween Tour. Don’t forget about Haunted Wilmington Ghost Walk and Beaufort Ghost Walk.
