Arizona Science Center

Arizona Science Center, formerly the Arizona Museum of Science & Technology, opened its doors to the public in 1984 as a small 10,000 square foot storefront exhibition space.  With funds raised from a capital campaign, the new museum opened its over 120,000 square-foot, in October 2004 with an IMAX Theater seating 285; and a multi-media Dorrance Planetarium seating for 200.

With over 300 hands-on exhibits and interactive demonstrations, my favorites include “All About You” an exhibit devoted to human life focusing on physiology and how humans learn and remember and the Dorrance Planetarium where visitors experience animated journeys through cells, Earth, space and time.  The Arizona Science Center seems to always have something that appeals to everyone.

A fall series of classes perfect if you have a mad scientist in the making are Saturday morning science classes, Oct. 24, Nov. 7, 21 and Dec. 5.  Learn about the colors that make up a rainbow, the vast variety of weather patterns, the steps of the scientific method and how time zones, daylight savings and leap year affect our clocks.

Pricing is for one parent and one child.  $15 for members, $20 for non-members and $5 per additional child.

For more information, visit their web site.

Whatever reason you make the trip, you’ll sure to enjoy this great museum.
