STOMP!

Stomp

The dancing percussion group that uses everything but conventional instruments to create their beats are stopping by in Toronto for five days to wow the city with their new show. This international sensation will be performing at The Canon Theatre from October 20th to the 25th. For the show that is famous for creating musical beats using trashcans, boots, hubcaps, wooden poles, plastic bags, and plungers, a few new surprises will be incorporated into their show using new props to generate these funky beats.

In the re-vamped show, paint cans and huge tractor tire inner tubes will be incorporated. The paint can routine will probably involve hitting them in one way or another, but the dancing percussion group always seems to amaze the crowd with what they can come up with. The tractor tire inner tube routine officially called “Donuts” involves these inner tubes worn around the waist on a bungee cord. How are they going to create new sounds with this? No clue but it is bound to be an interesting and impressive performance.

Stomp began as a street performance in the UK and has become an international sensation in the last 14 years. The group has performed in over 350 cities in 36 countries around the world. There are currently three Stomp companies; one in New York City, one in London, and one that tours Europe. The show has also won many awards including Oliver Award for Best Choreography, a New York Obie Award, and many more.

If you go, tickets are between $25 and $79. The show is an hour and a half long with no intermission. For more information, click here.
