The Big Dog – Snoop Dogg Live in Baltimore
With ten solo records, cameos in over 25 films, and a couple realty TV shows, he’s morphed from a member of the Crips street gang while in high school, to a music and media powerhouse.
As a leader in the ’90s gangsta rap style, he quickly became one of, if not the most recognizable rap artists in the county. His lyrics reflected the violence of the inner-city streets, and after being charged as an accomplice in a murder, his street-cred boomed, launching his debut CD to a number one spot in the rap category.
Snoop’s next record “stalled”, selling only two million copies which caused him to start to reinvent himself away from the thug gangster image. He started to reposition himself as more mainstream by wordsmithing his lyrics to be less violent.
