Types of Wine To Bring To Thanksgiving
For centuries, thanksgiving has been a celebration of the harvest of fresh fall vegetables, such as potatoes, squash, cranberry, and corn along with that amazing oven-baked turkey with plenty of stuffing and gravy. Most families have been making these feasts for years and have perfected the process, but one thing people often wonder is what kind of wine to bring to dinner that will compliment these succulent fall flavours?
Beaujolais Nouveau has always been a popular wine, as it is the first wine of the harvest. The only thing that sways people from choosing other wines is because barely any time passes between when the grapes are picked and when the customer takes their first sip. This makes the wine cheaper than most and negative connotations for wine snobs come with it. This wine is white and should be chilled, so it goes well with turkey or with cheese before dinner.
As far as white wines go, which many people enjoy drinking with white meats, a dry and oakey chardonnay will go perfectly. Sauvignon Blanc, a White Burgundy, or if some guests like sweeter wines, a white Riesling or white Zinfandel will please the masses.
For those who want to have the best red wine to compliment the bird, pinot noir is a common favourite. Serve this one slightly chilled and enjoy the season’s festivities.
