Find Your Perfect Watering Hole at Greenville Avenue

To find one of the most happening spots in Dallas, head to Greenville Avenue where the upper and lower side have many things to do and see, plus it is one of the older unique parts of the city. The most important tip from this article is if you are looking for some good local watering holes, this is the area you should be heading to.

Lower Greenville is the older part of the area dating back to the 1920’s. The area has a lot of character due to its vintage settings but it is also a great place to visit because it is the area where the highest concentration of bars reside. The lower part of Greenville Avenue has a stretch of bars that is perfect for bar hopping. The street is not very large, as parking is hard to find on this two-lane road. Try going from bar to bar on one side, then cross the street and do the same on the other side.

Popular bars at Lower Greenville Avenue include The Blue Goose, the Dubliner, and The Tipperary Inn. When you are in the area, try to make a trip over to the Granada Theater, where bands, parties, and other special events take place. It used to be a movie house that has been many times transformed since it was first built in the 1930’s. To grab some late night snacks after having a few cocktails, head over to Snuffer’s Restaurant and Bar for their famous cheese fries (also very enjoyable at any time of the day).

To get to Upper Greenville Avenue, just go to the other side of Mockingbird Lane to check out Mockingbird Station, a hip new urban village housing lofts, restaurants, shops and more. Trinity Hall Irish Pub is a worthy pub to hang out, have a pint, watch sports, listen to traditional Irish music and have fun with your buddies. Many people go here to watch live soccer or rugby, or to have some drinks and listen to live music.

The best cluster of bars in Upper Greenville Avenue is on Yale and Dryer Street, just off Greenville. This area attracts more of a younger college crowd. Top bars in this area are Butterfinger’s, The Ginger Man Pub, The Across the Street Bar, and The Ozona Bar & Grille. Another thing to take note of is to arrive at these bars early as the crowds will come and large line-ups will form in front of these bars.

This is not a complete list of all the great restaurants and bars to be discovered in Greenville Avenue, however this should be reason enough for you to go and check it out when you are in the area. Whether you are young or old, there is sure to be a watering hole or restaurant to suit your every need.
