Writing on the Wall in Coffee Shop Hill Street Blues
Amsterdam has over three hundred coffee shops. They serve frothy cappuccino and fragrant tea, but that’s not why people go to coffeeshops. Dutch coffeeshops are places that sell hash and marihuana openly. This doesn’t mean that possession of drugs is legal in the Netherlands.
Possession of small quantities is decriminalised. Advertising marihuana is not allowed so you will have to go the bar and ask Mr Dealer for the menu, which shows a variety of weed and hash and their prices. On average they start at €4 per gram. Coffeeshops are not allowed by law to give information about their wares on their website. You will have to come along and see for yourself.

My suggestion is: spend a few pleasant hours at Hill Street Blues.
This coffeeshop is easy to find because loud music wafts into the street. It is a low-key place that attracts all kind of people also those that are not interested in smoking joints. They come for the comfortable sofas, the best place to chill out. It is up to you if you do this with or without mind-enhancing stuff.
If you want to be more active try out the pool table, table football or beat your opponent at chess or backgammon. Hill Street Blues has the full range of smoking accessories, but also milkshakes, smoothies, ice-creams and fruitshakes. As is the case in all coffeeshops no alcohol is served.
Leave you name on the big canvass and see what other celebrities have left their signature on the wall. Adding your name to the graffity work of art will make your name (and you) immortal.
Irvine Welsh, (author of the best selling novel Trainspotting) mentioned Hill Street Blues in his latest novel, Porno. The American rapper, Eminem sitting on the Hill Street Blue sofa features on the cover of the artist’s first album. Why not join them?
