Can’t Make the Show? Donate Your Ticket to a Vet

I recently read about a Phoenix-based national non-profit that has developed a program for individuals, sports teams, performance venues and businesses to donate tickets to their charity.  Veteran Tickets Foundation was formed more than a year ago to provide free tickets to veterans and active-duty personnel to various events around the country.

The inspiration of Navy veteran Michael A. Focareto III, Veteran Tickets Foundation came about when Focareto noticed an empty seat beside him at a Super Bowl game.  He soon established partnerships with teams and venues, and in no time donated tickets came from individuals who couldn’t use them.  Current and former military simply access their site at www.vettix.org, establish an online account and search for events by state.  Monetary donations and tickets can also be made through this site.

What a fantastic way to say “thank you” to our military!  I hate the thought of wasting tickets to events that I will not be able to attend.  Now I know that I can give them to someone who will really appreciate them.

The annual Beauty of a Bonzer Charity Concert, A Night of 100 Hits with Kool & the Gang and the Commodores at US Airways Center will benefit the Veteran Tickets Foundation and several other Valley-based non-profit organizations.
