Trekking the Mighty Himalayan Mountains, Nepal
Whether you are young or young at heart, a lover of the outdoors or new to the idea of spending time with wilderness, the Himalayan mountain range, stretching across much of Nepal’s norhtern border, has a range of acitivites readily availble to those wiling to take a walk on the wilder side of life.
With trained guides and porters willing to provide their services to you at a reasonable fee (roughly $25US per day), you are sure to be impressed not only by their knowledge of the local landscape but also by their ability to push on no matter the weight on their backs with such ease and grace. If guides don’t seem to fit your personal taptestry’s design then there is also the option of going it alone.
There is a lot to be said for buying a map of the hills for a couple of dollars, picking up whatever supplies you’ll need for the few days you’ll be gone, lacing up your boots and taking off with nothing than your backpack and an open mind. The locals along the way are more than willing to lend a helping hand along the way if and when that fork in the road seems all too much. And at the end of each day, as you lay on your comfortable bed with aching legs and throbbing feet, you look out your window and see why this grulling effort is all worth it for mighty Himalayan mountains seem so close that you caould touch them.
