Shopping for Second-hand Clothes
Fill the gaps in your wardrobe.
Here are the best places to pick up second hand clothing.
(130 stalls): Easy to find as it is near Prinsengracht and close to Anne Frankhuis. Open air market crammed with stalls selling vintage clothing, belts, bags, shoes and jewelry mainly from the sixties and seventies.
Monday 9am – 2 pm
Tram 3, get off at Nieuwe Willemstraat
Waterlooplein. Dog for sale?
FLEA MARKET (188 stalls) bustles with shoppers and lookers-on seven days a week. Whether you are looking for a leather jacket, cannabis lolipops, graffitti spray cannister or a fur coat, this is definitely the place to find them.
Monday – Saturday 9 am – 5 pm
Closed on Sundays
Trams 9, 14, get off at Waterlooplein.
If you are not the outdoor shopping type, or if it is too cold for outdoor shopping, go to the area because this is the place with the densest concentration of vintage and second hand stores.
My favourites are:
Wolvenstraat 6. Browse for skirts, dresses and tops. If Jacky Kennedy were still alive she would be shopping here. Rummage through the bargain bins and find that fifties dress with a belt to match.
Monday – Saturday 11.am – 6 pm
Thursdays until 9 pm
Sunday 1 pm – 6 pm
, Huidenstraat 7. Men seem to like the oversized baseball shirts, women like eveything, from a fifties pretty petticoat to hotpants and vintage pumps.
Monday noon – 6 pm
Tuesday – Saturday 11 am – 6 pm
Thursdays until 9 pm
Sunday 1 pm – 5 pm
, Waterlooplein 1. Definitely more up-market than the vintage clothing stalls on Waterlooplein Flea Market. Episode specializes in seventies and eighties clothing from casual to party wear. They have another shop in Berenstraat 1, and recently opened a shop in Rue Tiquetonne 12, , France.
Monday – Saturday 10 am – 6 pm
Closed on Sundays
Trams 9, 14, get off at Waterlooplein.
