Free Monuments Tour for Just a “Tip”
Touring the National Mall in Washington, DC on your own can be so very fun, but sometimes you want the back story…the facts…the history…the dirt.
And that’s where DC By Foot come in with their Free Monuments Walk Tour.
Walking tours of the national Mall monuments, led by energetic, knowledgeable guys who love American and DC history not only take you on a guided tour, but can tell you stories and provide background information you normally might not hear and make you laugh.
And the tours are FREE!
As DC’s only tip-based tour guides, DC by Foot offers a very enjoyable tour of the major monuments form the outside. It’s a great way to start a first vacation tour of the National Mall or to get a bit more information on a return vacation trip to DC.

The lighthearted but illuminating tours, just over a mile in length, take about 75 minutes. Stops include the Washington Monument, the World War II and Vietnam Veterans Memorials, and conclude the Lincoln Memorial. You’ll also see the Jefferson Memorial, The White House and Capitol Building form a distance.
Groups range from about 20 people to over 100 people, it all depends on the day. And the tours are great for kids too.
DC By Foot also offer other tours, including a fee-based Lincoln Assassination Tour and a Georgetown Ghost tour, among others.

Tickets - Free – No advanced reservations needed, except for groups of 10 or more. Tours start at corner of 15th and Constitution Avenue NW next to the Department of Commerce building.
Nearest Metro Subway Station – Federal Triangle – Blue & Orange lines, then a 2-block walk, or use the DC Circulator bus.
Parking – Limited metered street parking and area paid garage parking is available.
