Learn About and Sample Mediterranean Food, Wine and Olive Oils
From Italian wines to Greek and Spanish olive oils, the Mediterranean region is known for its healthy cuisine and delicious wines.
Now’s your chance to jump start your knowledge of Mediterranean wines at the Mediterranean Wines Festival and Classes at the Whitemore House in Washington, DC.

Get to sample over 30 wines from 11 different countries, including wines from some of the best grape producing areas in the Mediterranean including:
- Priorat, Penedes and Valencia regions in Spain
- the Italian regions of Sardinia, Sicily and Apuglia
- the Languedoc-Roussillon, Cotes du Rhone and Provence regions in France
Sample additional wines from Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Israel and more.
To add to the fun of tasting, light Mediterranean tapas and mezze offerings, including stuffed grape leaves, falafel, classic Greek spanakopita, a variety of olives, and the deliciously healthy hummus will be served. 
In addition, attend one of the three free classes:
- Olive Oil: Taking the Mystery Out and Pouring the Profit In led by a leading olive oil expert. Learn about the various grades of olive oil, tasting techniques and try samplings from Spain, France and Italy.
- From Romans to Americans – the War on Terroir in the Mediterranean Basin. Learn about the many wine producing regions of the Mediterranean Basin, along with additional wine tastings.
- Bringing the Mediterranean Diet to your Plate, teaches the general principles of the healthy Mediterranean diet. It will be led by the Capital Cooking television show host and blogger of Capital Cooking, Lauren deSantis.
