Blues de Barcelona – More Music this September 09

While most of the ‘Western World’ is back-to-school and getting down to business after an eventful summer, Barcelona can’t be bothered to get too serious just yet. And why should we? After all, the weather is still hot, the sea still swimmable and the nights still far too pleasant to stay in-doors.

If the L’Hora de Jazz festival was not enough, consider checking out the Blues de Barcelona festival as well, held all over the city this September 09. Some concerts will be held in posh locals like Luz de Gas (LluĂs Coloma), while others will be held in more unusual locations, like hospitals and prisons.

The line up is extensive and there are a couple of shows each week, so be sure to take a look at the Blues de Barcelona official website to get directions and show times. I am especially curious about this festival because the Blues, unlike jazz, usually involves a singer. Sometimes something gets lost in translation, which can be fantastic or funny. Either way, I am down for hearing Barcelona’s version of the Blues, whether sung in English, Catalan, Spanish, Gallego, Valenciano or Basque…
